Huskers Finish Strong, Inside Top 15

the Huskers finished off their season with a bang. Shutting out Arizona 33-0 for Nebraska's first ever bowl game shutout in school history. After Texas lost to Alabama in the BCS title game, Nebraska jumped into the #1 overall defense in the country. Going from rock bottom to #1 defensively is amazing. Key loss to the defense in Ndamukong Suh, former husker, Suh, said that the defense will be even better next year and Suh's partner in crime, Crick, is said to be even better. The Huskers finished #14 in the last AP poll and is expected to be in the top 15 preseason next year aswell. Most of the Offense returns this year in Niles Paul, Zac Lee, and the two backs Helu and true freshman Rex Burkhead. With all this talk, next year looks promising.

Suh in the Heisman Race

After a HUGE game against Missouri last week (among others), Nebraska's star DT, Ndamukong Suh finally got some national recognition. And a whole bunch of hype. Nebraska fans from across the nation have gone HERE (please vote) and voted for the big man to become a Heisman candidate. Could this be the year a defensive player won the Heisman? Some say never, but if anyone was watching College Football Live last night, the experts say this COULD be the year, and Mr. Suh is the one that can do it. As of right now, Suh stands in first place of the fan vote by an overwhelming 30,000 votes and 5th in the actual standings. With talk of being a #1 draft pick, an upcoming sports illustrated report, and now the Heisman, Suh has gotta' be lovin' life right about now.
This week is another big game for the 'Skers, hosting Texas Tech (2:30 CT, ABC). This will be a huge game on national television and Suh will be in the spotlight. If he can rise to the occasion, and be consistent week in and week out, there will be a chance for Mr. Suh,

Keeston Commits

The NU football team picked up a huge recruit in Keeston Terry today. A four star WR, 6-2 180 pounds becomes the fourth commitment for Pelini's 2010 class. Terry was born a Jayhawk fan and both of his parents attended KU. However when he got the chance to play there, he chose otherwise.
"It's a pretty tough call between NU and KU," said Terry. "But I'm pretty sure I am going to stick with my decision."
Why might you ask, did he choose NU over KU? Sources say he got to know our WR coach Ted Gilmore pretty well and a NU intern within his school. Terry also attended the spring game and was very impressed by the 77,000 in attendance for a pre-season game.
"I feel the vibe between the coaches, the players. They are good people, and I want to be surrounded by that."

A Day at the Masters... With Doc and Bo?!?!

With a trip down to Augusta, GA, Coaches Bo Pelini and Doc Saddler got to know each other a little better by playing a little golf. Saddler and Pelini ended up playing 64 holes over a course of 3 days just last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
"It's like your a kid going to the first candy store in your life," Saddler said. "You've seen how great it is on TV and such, but it is way better once you are actually there, playing."

Though the coaches' scores were not posted, they still said that they had had a great time.
Check it out.
